Zebras

Zebras are a collection of non-fiction primary school readers put together by Black Dog Books for Thomson Learning. They are quite short (about 800 to 1200 words each) and are full colour with lots of photos and illustrations. I've got three books in this series. I was to have a fourth, Land of the Pyramids, but this one was dropped from the series because of current world tensions. Zebras was published in December 2002.

My Hero ISBN: 0 17010734 5 (Zebras Set A: 0 17010757 4) This book focuses on children who have become heroes.
Messy Desks ISBN: 0 17010742 6 (Zebras Set B: 0 17010846 5) This book looks at the sorts of things you're likely to find on the average desk (from computers to Liquid Paper), examining their history and providing a few quirky facts. At least, that's what I originally wrote. Unfortunately, the final book bares little resemblance to what I wrote, having been re-written by editors and teacher consultants. It's a good read, but I really didn't write it... even though my name appears on it.
Rescue! ISBN: 0 17010755 8 (Zebras Set B: 0 17010846 5) This book looks at search and rescue operations around the world, and the people involved in running them. Originally titled SOS, the publishers changed the name at the last minute.
